"Cantor Daniel Pincus officiated our wedding in September of '09. We were so fortunate to have him lend his wisdom, calm presence, and beautiful voice to our day." -  Maya

Cantor Pincus sings...that's why he's a cantor.  Before reading further, you can click on the tab at the right, above, to hear him chant the Sabbath prayer, "Veshameru."  Also, click on over to the Hear and Watch Page.

Cantor Pincus is a liberal Jewish Reform cantor and a highl experienced public speaker.  Folks say that  wedding ceremonies are serious but also warm and funny, and last no more than about 25 minutes.

A typical Jewish Wedding:

The Seven Marriage Blessings - the Sheva B'rachot.  Some chanting, mostly read in English.  It ends with the second blessing over wine.

The "Three-Fold Benediction"

Explanation of the Breaking of the Glass, and ends with the Breaking of the Glass.

Non-Denominational Weddings that Mention God:  Cantor Pincus officiates this type of wedding, as well.

Speech with Religious texts

Ring Exchange and Vows

Maybe a Song

Final Blessing

Pronouncement

Secular Weddings:  Cantor Pincus will conduct secular wedding ceremonies.

Interfaith weddings He is open to officiating interfaith weddings.  Talk to him about it.  When young couples plan to raise children as Jews, he is happy to officiate. He has co-officiated with Christian clergy and continues to do so (see review below).

Same-sex weddings:  I live in the great state of New York.  Need I say more?

Saturday weddings:  From 6pm, all year round.

Valued also for his speaking and teaching as well, the Cantor officiates all Jewish ceremonies.  Join the many who have engaged Cantor Daniel Pincus, whom Andrew Porter of The New Yorker once called "a lively and  engaging tenor," to usher them into their sacred moments of  arrival, celebration, devotion, and remembrance.

Cantor Pincus can officiate all ceremonies with comments and translations in Russian, German, Italian and Modern Hebrew.

Reviews:

Cantor Daniel Pincus showed up in the pouring rain to officiate our wedding at Central Park. Words can not express how lucky we are to have had him there. He organized a canopy of umbrellas and absolutely delivered! Nobody even noticed the weather as Cantor Pincus turned the freezing rain storm into a warm and unforgettable day for us. He is a true professional. In the days leading up to our wedding, Cantor Pincus also took the time to get to know us over Skype. We could sense that he took his role seriously and we felt much more at ease knowing how much he cared. He really went above and beyond for us. Thank you Daniel for everything!

Cantor Pincus,

Thank you so much. The ceremony was so special and it went exactly as discussed. Again, thank you for marrying us.

Working with Cantor Pincus was nothing less than a revelation. When we’d asked him to officiate -- neither of us were observant of the Jewish traditions and yet we wanted to be married under the Chuppah. Cantor Dan spent many hours with us looking at what was important to us and what we wanted to create as a result not only of our marriage but in the world. The ultimate ceremony was beautiful, moving and memorable. Not only was it an extraordinary beginning to our life together but as a result of our experience with Dan we found ourselves more and more drawn to our roots and to the Jewish traditions.

We can’t say enough about Cantor Dan – he’s brilliant, sensitive and just the best possible officiant you could have to start your lives together.

Thanks so much. We had a wonderful time, and thought the ceremony went very well. You and Father Rick did a fantastic job!  Thanks for everything.

It was a pleasure to work with Cantor Pincus. He helped emphasize the importance of the ceremony as well as ensure we were prepared. It was especially nice that he took the time to get to know my fiance and me so that he could speak about us personally.

I have known Cantor Daniel Pincus for 10 years and he is a consistently warm-hearted and learned religious professional. As Cantor to our congregation he gave his best to the whole community. His beautiful voice and his thoughtful commentaries were highlights of weekly services. For the high holidays he organized a youth shofar choir drawn from our Hebrew School kids. He emphasized ritual and meaning while maintaining the instrumental basics. He is a generous and wise adviser, true to his art and soulful with the congregants. His chanting of the "seven blessings" at my wedding in 2010 was reverent, vibrant and beautifully performed.

Cantor Pincus helped us think about what my husband and I meant to each other and skillfully incorporated those ideas into our wedding ceremony.

Cantor Daniel is amazing!!! I am so happy he was the one to do our marriage ceremony! He is professional, caring and extremely involved! The ceremony wouldn’t have been as special if it wasn’t for Cantor Daniel. Highly recommended!!

Dan Pincus has the voice of an angel. He brought deep experience as a musician and cantor to our interactions in selecting both traditional pieces we added to our ceremony, as well as other musical selections we integrated into the procession and the reception. He was an excellent addition to the overall event and collaborated well with other players and clergy in a professional manner with enthusiasm and tact.
